Clymer Names Olson as New Superintendent

CLYMER – Beth Olson has been named as the new Superintendent of the Clymer Central School District and will begin her three-year contract with the district on July 15. She was appointed by the Board of Education on Friday, June 12.

“I am thrilled to join the Clymer community and learn about their traditions and values. There is a lot to learn, and during my conversations with stakeholders, I heard several themes that will be my immediate focus: connection, consistency and communication,” said Olson. “I look forward to working with everyone in the Clymer community to provide an educational program that has rich opportunities and experiences for our students.”

Olson comes to the district after spending eleven years working in the Chautauqua Lake Central School District, where she was most recently the School Business Administrator. She also served as the Pre-K-12 Assistant Principal from 2009-2016. Olson’s professional career is rooted in education. It began at Mayvale Central School where she taught Earth Science for eight years. During her time at Marvale, Olson also served as Acting Assistant Principal.

“Beth Olson’s skill set and experience, along with her understanding of our community’s commitment to providing the very best educational experience for our students set her apart from a very strong, qualified and competitive field of applicants,” Clymer Board of Education President Ed Mulkearn said.

Olson holds professional certifications in School District Administration (SDA) and School Administration and Supervision (SAS). She earned her master’s in Administration from Niagara University and was a Future Superintendent Academy Fellow at the New York State Council of School Superintendents. She attended the State University of New York at Cortland, where she received her bachelor’s in secondary education and earned her professional certification for teaching Earth Science and General Science for grades 7-12.

Olson resides in Mayville with her husband Stephen, the General Maintenance Mechanic/Clerk of the Works at Southwestern Central School. Together, they have three children: Tate, Nolan and Finley who are all students at Chautauqua Lake Central School.
