Good morning!

I’m pleased to let you know the 2021 Congressional Art Competition judging was held in our Corning District Office on Wednesday, May 7th and we were fortunate to once again have two art professors from Elmira College, as well as two art students, extend their time and expertise. After careful deliberation, the results of the judging are as follows: Overall Winner: Alison Einink, (12th grade) from Clymer Central School whose artwork will hang in the Capitol for one year. Runner up: Madilyn Mitchell, (12th grade) from Pine Valley Central School whose artwork will hang in Congressman Reed’s Washington DC office for one year unless requested to be returned.

Finalists: See below. Artwork will also hang in Congressman Reed’s Washington DC office for one year unless requested to be returned.

NOTE: If an art piece is not properly prepared for hanging, it will be returned to the student.

  • Michael Friebis, (10th grade) from Bradford Central School
  • Samantha Balcerzak, (10th grade) from Allegany-Limestone Central School
  • Tristan Shell, (12th grade) from Mynderse Academy
  • Jason Thiel II, (12th grade) from Horseheads Central School

On behalf of Congressman Reed and our office, thank you for your participation in the 2021 Congressional Art Competition! Should the runner up or any of the finalists need their art piece returned prior to the one-year duration in the Congressman’s DC office, please contact me ASAP so I do not have it transported to our Washington office. Please note the Art Institute’s Art Intake will be in August at a date yet to be determined and the Art Show display period will be from October 2021 – March 2022.

Thank you again for your time and participation and the opportunity to showcase the tremendous talent in New York’s 23rd Congressional District! Congratulations to all participants!

Best Regards, Sharon
