Second grade has been learning about different African American figures in history! This week, they have focused on Ruby Bridges, one of the first African American children to integrate into a Louisiana school during the year 1960! History is the greatest story ever written and we continue to learn and grow at Clymer! #piratepride

What would you do with $1,000? What do you think life will be like in 1,000 years? What is something your teacher has said 1,000 times this school year? How smart would you be if you went to school for 1,000 days? Answer: You’d be as smart as a fifth grader! These are just a few of the questions that the fifth graders have been thinking about this week. But the most important question of all was how do you create a snow fort using 1,000 blocks of snow? AND that is just what we tried to do, to celebrate their 1,000th Day of School! Unfortunately, with all of the snow it was pitiful for fort making. The week has been spent with hidden mystery notes, journal entries centered around the number 1,000, door decorations, cookies, surprises and hot chocolate! And we had so much fun celebrating 1,000 days of learning. If there was ever a year to commemorate such a milestone, this was it! It’s been full of change, but one constant has remained...these kids put in 1,000% effort day in and day out and learning (lots of it) has taken place. So today was a day of reward! Happy 1,000th Day of School Fifth Graders! We are so proud of you!

Dear Parents and Guardians, According to school policy 7110 and NYS Education Law, it is mandatory that a school excuse be provided by the parent on the return date of the student. During this pandemic, the importance of this communication is enhanced to help ensure the health and safety of all individuals within the building. Starting Wednesday, February 3, 2021 students reporting to school after an absence or late to school without an excuse will be contained in our isolation room, working remotely, until a written excuse is received. Written excuses can be emailed directly to attendance@clymercsd.org or handwritten notes can be handed in upon arrival. Thank you for your cooperation with this matter.
