Greetings Clymer Community! We at Clymer Central School are happy to announce that we will be hosting Career week during the week of May 17-21st for our students. There will be different participants visiting throughout the week to speak with students about different career paths and what it takes to get there. As always, our goal is to provide as many opportunities to the students as possible in hopes to better equip them for success in the future, while keeping their safety at the forefront.

Good Afternoon this is Beth Olson. I wanted to take a minute to provide you with some updates regarding new guidance. You may have heard that the CDC released new guidance regarding individuals who have been vaccinated do no need to wear a mask when in public. New York State has not yet adopted this guidance, so this is not applicable to schools at this time. Although some staff and students have been vaccinated, many more are not. Therefore, we will continue our practice of wearing masks during the school day and at school sponsored events until further NYS guidance is released. Another update that came out earlier this week from Section VI regarding athletics. We are now allowed to have up to 500 people outdoors and 250 indoors for our spring sports. This is great news for Clymer and CSP athletics. We will still have the responsibility to maintain attendance records for our events, but this will open up our athletic competitions to the community. This increased capacity is for athletic events only, but I anticipate additional guidance for other end of year celebrations to be released in the upcoming weeks. Although things are opening up, we still need to be mindful that there are positive cases in our community. Within this past week we have had 2 positive cases that have impacted our school. Students and staff are still at risk of illness and/or quarantine if we do not continue with the procedures we have practiced all year long. We have a lot planned for the remainder of the school year, and increased cases could impact our plans. We have had a successful year and we couldn’t have done it without our family’s and community support. Help us finish the year strong. Happy May Day!

Clymer Central School will be celebrating May Day this year. We are thrilled we have the opportunity to carry on this long-standing Clymer tradition. Due to current NYSDOH guidelines we must limit the number of visitors we have on campus. Please do not plan to attend unless you were given a ticket by a student participating. We ask that our community support us by watching the Livestream at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTC4wvkIbxdBKcQ1PAkGbpQ Your support on this matter is appreciated.

We have been notified by the local health department that two members of our school community have tested positive for Covid-19. School officials have contacted all individuals that are considered to be a close contact. To be considered close contact, individuals are less than 6 feet apart for 10 minutes cumulative throughout the day with or without a mask. All of our classrooms are set up to maximize social distancing, but students need to continue to be mindful of their actions during class transitions and activities beyond the school day. We are at a difficult time of year with allergy season ramping up. Because many allergy symptoms mirror the symptoms of Covid-19, it is imperative that if your student is exhibiting any symptoms of illness, please keep them home. We have a lot of activities planned in these final months of school. One sick individual can impact many from participating in these events. Please do your part to minimize the spread so that we can finish the year strong and healthy. Have a good day.

Second grade walked around our school Parking Lot, Outdoor Classroom, and our Football Field to pick up garbage in honor of Earth Day on April 22nd. They collected lots of plastic water and milk bottles, candy wrappers, pencils, 12 masks (yikes!), and even torn up socks left on our school grounds! Second grade wants to remind you to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! Help keep your community clean!
