American Civil War
Without a doubt the American Civil War is my favorite time period of American History.
This is an elective class that I have been developing through my years here at CCS. In 2008 I earned a Masters Degree from the American Military University in Charles Town, WV in the American Civil War. I have been involved in reenacting and living history presentations. I feel very fortunate that I have been able to teach this specific course.
Years ago I was involved with the 72nd NY, Co. B. That group was located in Frewsburg, NY but disbanded as individuals moved across the country. We have restarted and moved the group here to Clymer. We will also be incorporating the 112th NY which many men from this area were a part of. If you would be interested in what we are doing please contact me through the email address provided on this website for initial contact.
This class studies the political, social, and of course military aspects of America in the late 1850's and through the 1860's. We look at a wide variety of topics within those aspects and of course spend a lot of our time learning the major battles and the command decisions that were made. We also make a yearly trip to Gettysburg, PA to study the battle in a "hands-on" format. This is a great experience for all involved.
If you enjoy studying military history then you should consider this class as one of your elective options.
